P3 - SWOT Analysis
SWOT Analysis – clubsoda.
Strength
I feel that
a strength of producing a music magazine is that it is an opportunity to
showcase new talent which can help further their careers. The magazine will
also include information on upon coming events and festivals which will entice potential
readers into picking up the magazine. Another strength of the magazine is that
it will provide readers of my favourite tracks at the minute and how you can
listen to them, whether that on Apple music, Spotify, Soundcloud and YouTube
etc. Finally, I believe that the magazine will provide interesting information
on everyone’s favourite DJs that you can’t find anywhere else.
Weakness
It will be
difficult to meet DJs to get interviews from due to their busy schedules so
producing primary information may be difficult to start. This also means that
getting pictures of the DJs would be difficult for the magazines. There is
already Mixmag, a business that runs a magazine which produces similar content
to clubsoda, so earning brand loyalty may be tough at first.
Opportunity
Opportunity’s
vary. It gives me reason to listen to as many sets and tracks as I already do
but now be able to share my favourites in my magazine for my monthly segments
of what and who to look out for. I want the magazine to be the first step. Creating
the magazine can lead onto creating a website that can include podcasts of sets
and I could have DJs to perform sets which can be released on streaming sites.
Threat
There are many threats that I should be aware of, including copyright, location, competition, legal and ethical issues. I will avoid copyright issues by producing original content for the magazine and the pre-production materials. I will avoid the threat of location by ensuring that I thoroughly plan where I shoot my photos for the front cover and the double page spread. I will make sure the location is suitable enough to take as close to professional pictures as possible. I will oversee the threat of competition by creating original content which I feel is more detailed and interesting than my competitors. Finally, I will avoid legal and ethical issues by researching what issues I need to consider when creating my multi-media products. Friday, 20 April 2018
